Working & Research Groups
Deeper inquiry beyond competition cycles — sustained communities of students, academics, and practitioners exploring emerging-technology frontiers.
Communities of inquiry and practice
Working & Research Groups provide space for sustained exploration — beyond the intensity of olympiad weekends or short training cohorts. Groups may start informally and formalise over time as outputs and membership grow.
Different kinds of groups
Working Groups
Applied projects with defined deliverables and regular check-ins.
Research Groups
Longer-horizon inquiry with academic or industry publication goals.
Industry Labs
Partner-hosted exploration of regulated-industry use cases.
Infrastructure
Shared tooling, standards, and framework development — including ISFRETIC alignment.
Current and emerging areas
Groups across the KBI network explore areas including AI safety, generative AI governance, self-sovereign identity, cybersecurity, quantum computing, digital economics, and SDG-aligned innovation — with the Netherlands chapter contributing EU regulatory and applied-sciences perspectives.
